Balwyn Project - Family Fun With A Solar Heated Pool

This was a project where we sort of had it all working for us. An amazing new pool, a family home that really deserved an outdoor transformation, and clients who were as into the little details as we were. Our team had a great time putting together a space that was both beautiful and practical, and worked as a calm retreat for this busy family.

We’re especially chuffed with how seamlessly the off-peak pumps and solar heating came together for some proper energy efficiency. The concrete pool measures a generous 9m x 3m which meant, yes, everyone could fit in together when needed. We levelled up the outdoor area so the greenery and water could be enjoyed from inside - it’s just one of those things that makes the whole place feel brighter and more inviting, even with the doors closed in winter.

You can’t help but notice the bright, clean look of the pool tiles. We wanted something that would keep this spot feeling cheerful and welcoming, so we went with white ceramic for that classic look. The outdoor bluestone paving is a favourite here too - it visually brings together the garden, water feature, and house into one big functional living area. You know you’ve done it right when you can stand anywhere and it all just fits.
