Kew East Project - Greek Holiday At Home With A Pool

Going Greek: Mediterranean Vibes in a Modern Melbourne Home

We had a blast designing and building this pool - the brief was Greek-inspired, and the client brought loads of enthusiasm for the Mediterranean. Maybe a bit more than we expected, to be honest, but we threw ourselves into finding the right materials and colours for the job. We tried to keep it fairly classic, with pale travertine paving, bright blue glass tiles for the pool, and framed it all with glass fencing for some modern flair. We reckon we nailed it.

We worked with the clients’ architects and got heavily involved in the home renovation, timing our build so the pool and landscaping could be done at the right moment. That meant no wasted time or redoing work - it was an efficient process, and we were able to incorporate some of the best elements of the home extensions into the pool construction and landscaping.

The pool itself is a nice 10x4m, with plenty of space for splashing about or relaxing. The spa is a bit smaller at 2.5x1.5m, but we all agreed that too many people in the spa at once is bad for friendships, so we kept it snug and intimate. We also designed the heating system to use off-peak pumps and solar heating, which makes heating this pool and spa a lot cheaper - and a lot kinder to the environment.
