Richmond Project - Small Pool Big Fun And Even Bigger Style
Making Magic With Minimal Space
You know, this pool was a real labour of love. We built it right in the heart of the city, and between the compact block and a long list of family needs, you could say we had our work cut out for us. But that’s where it gets interesting. You can do wonders with a little if you’ve got a knack for it. And we’re always excited by a challenge.
The clients were a busy professional couple with two kids. Their home already had a sense of style, and they wanted something that’d look nice but also get a lot of use. Their main requirements were a pool that would let them swim laps, entertain friends and family, and add something special to the space. No small feat given the size of the yard, but that’s not all - they also wanted to stick to their landscaping and make sure the pool flowed with the rest of their outdoor space.
As you can imagine, there was a lot to cover. Right from the start, we worked closely with the family to make sure we got it right. We walked them through design options, talked over spaces to entertain, space to swim, how to include decking, how to do pool fencing without losing space, and even gave them a rundown of what a good lifestyle addition looks like. We didn’t want to build something that’d get in their way or make it harder to enjoy their home.
Once we were on the same page, it was time to get creative with the pool. There’s a lot you can do with small pools; you just need to get clever with it. So, we put our heads together and designed a pool that was just six metres in length but still big enough for the couple to swim laps and for the kids to splash around in. We wrapped things up with decking and coping that worked with their space, existing boundary, and landscaping. This meant custom glass fencing and timber decking that matched the rest of the outdoors. And all that finally tied in for a cohesive space - contemporary, inviting, and made for entertaining.
