Family Fun In A Fresh Backyard Pool

If there's one thing we get excited about, it's when a family wants to turn their backyard into a proper gathering spot. Somewhere friends, grandparents and kids can all join in the fun. And that was the exact request for this 6m x 3m pool for a young family.

We kept things simple, with clean lines and a basic geometric shape. Salt Pools wanted the pool to fit into the natural design of the house and so lined the pool edge with bluestone pavers. The contrast of the dark stone against the red brick of the house is quite eye-catching and gives the pool a contemporary feel.

The alfresco dining area is also paved in bluestone, which makes the entire space flow together nicely. Around the pool, we made sure there was lots of space for the kids to run around, and the parents to keep an eye on them from the outdoor areas. Salt Pools also made it a priority to keep this space from feeling overpowered by the pool.

The pool's interior is beautifully lined with 48mm marble-veined Carrara ceramic tiles. The marble tiles are a timeless classic, but they add a sense of luxury to this space. We crafted this unique look with character that family and guests can enjoy for years to come. To accompany the pool, we installed a spa to maximise space and potential enjoyment all year round. The decision to include a spa was one made in conversation with the homeowners, maximising our collaboration on this project.

When designing the interior of the pool, we wanted to create a tranquil and relaxing space. If you look at the interior steps, you’ll notice they are quite large and spaced out. We wanted to vary the steps so they acted as multiple spaces, like wading areas, or somewhere to simply sit and enjoy being in the pool. The multi-level steps are also a gradual way to enter the pool. Salt Pools designed crisp angles for added interest, transforming what could have been an ordinary pool, into an aesthetically pleasing and relaxing backyard oasis.

We wanted people to feel like swimming wasn't just an activity, but an experience. The addition of the multi-coloured internal LED lights creates a feast for the eyes, ensuring the pool becomes an exciting addition to the family garden no matter the season.
