Total Outdoor Package For Hawthorn East Period Home
Hawthorn East Pool Project
We recently wrapped up a project in Hawthorn East that, we’re fairly proud of. This period home needed something a bit special, and to be honest, the owners wanted more than just a pool. They wanted the whole lot - pool, landscaping, outdoor living. So we handled everything. It’s a treat for us when we get to manage a project like this from the beginning. And we think it turned out fantastic.
The clients have young kids, so the pool was partly for them, but they also wanted to keep the rest of the backyard usable. It’s not a huge block, but there’s enough room to do something classy. So we positioned the 6.5 x 3.5 metre concrete pool down the side of the house. That way, it doesn’t take over the whole yard or feel too squeezed in. It just fits. There’s space left for adults to sit out on the paving, maybe fire up the barbecue, chat with mates - that sort of thing.
We put plenty of thought into the materials too. It matters with these older homes - you want something that won’t date or clash with the architecture. The pool tiles are glass mosaic, which look great against the sandstone paving. There’s something pretty timeless about them both. You could come back here in 20 years and it won’t look tired.
This wasn’t the biggest job we’ve done, but it goes to show that a cohesive project management style and some smart planning can deliver a backyard that feels a lot bigger than it is. The clients loved having one crew do the lot too - it made it all easier for them, and meant we could keep a better eye on every part of the build, from start to finish.
